About the Destinations:

Chopta is located in the Rudraprayag district, it is also known as “Mini Switzerland” in India.The height of Chopta Chandrashilla Trek is a 2,680m. This picturesque hamlet is adorned with the enchanting beauty of the evergreen pine, deodar and rhododendron forests.

Chopta has rich biodiversity and beautiful views of the Himalayan landscape.The starting point of Tungnath and Chandrashila. Tungnath is a temple of Lord Shiva and Chandrashila is the highest point in the area. Chopta is well connected by road to Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Delhi. It is located on Ukhimath – Gopeshwar road. This is a  very quiet destination &  also a good destination for trekking and nature lovers.

Brief Itinerary

Day 1 :- Pick up from Haridwar railway station at 7.00 am. Drive to Sari Village (08-10 hrs).

Day 2 :- Sari Village to Deoriatal, 03 km, 1 hour trek.

Day 3 :- Deoria-taal to Rohini Bughyal, 8 km approx, 4 to 5 hours trek.

Day 4 :- Rohini Bughyal to Chopta– 8 km approx, 4 to 5 hour trek.

Day 5 :- Chopta to Chandrashila Peak 12900 feet via Tungnath 11,975 ft & back to Chopta, 10-11 km approx, 6 to 7 hours.

Day 6 :- Chopta to Haridwar By drive – 235 km ( 8 – 10 hour drive).

Detailed Itinerary

Day1:-Drive from Haridwar to Sari (08-10 Hours)

Your arrival in Haridwar will be followed by a drive to Sari along the holy Ganga and Alaknanda rivers. On the way to Sari, you can also have the glimpses of the sacred towns like Rishikesh, Devprayag and Rudraprayag. Arriving in Sari Taking Rest.


Day 2 :- Sari Village to Deoriatal

In the morning one can see snow clapped Himalayan ranges. After breakfast start a trek to Deoriatal , a steep but short climb through dense forest of Rhodendron and lots of wild flowers and ferns. The trek will take 3- 4 hrs to reach Deoriatal.


Day 3 :- Deoria-taal to Rohini Bughyal, 8 km approx, 4 to 5 hours trek.

In the morning trek down to Rohini Bughyal Taking Rest of the day.


Day 4 :- Rohini Bughyal to Chopta– 8 km approx, 4 to 5 hour trek.

Waking up today morning, you will be trekking through the lush and scenic patches of pine, oaks and rhododendron forests. Stunning views of the mighty Himalayan Range and evergreen forests will keep you soaked with excitement all throughout the trek. Trekking in this region is a unique experience as the forests in this vicinity changes their colour according to the variations in temperature. The day’s trek will wind up as you arrive in Chopta (3,000m). Upon arrival at Chopta set out your tents for overnight stay. In the evening explore the magnificent view of the Himalayas. The surroundings of the Chopta grasslands are untouched and the nearby forests are ideal for little excursions, and relaxation! Overnight in tents.


Day 5 :- Chopta to Tungnath – Chandrashila Peak 12900 feet via Tungnath 11,975 ft & back to Chopta, 10-11 km approx, 6 to 7 hours.

After an early breakfast trek to Tungnath with packed lunch. Tungnath is situated at the height of 3680 mts from the sea level and is the highest Shiva temple in India. The trek is in excess of three kms. Enroute one passes amidst lush green meadows and one can see the entire range of snow capped Himalayas. Upon arrival at Tungnath Temple and visit the temple. After relaxation and lunch, a further ascent of one kms terminates at the Chandrasila peak. The view of not only the snow clad mountains, but also of all the green valleys and deep gorges visible from the mountain top are sights that one will remember for a lifetime; for some say – there is no other place quite like this location in the entire region. Retrace your foot steps back to Chopta for dinner and overnight stay.


Day 6:- Chopta to Haridwar By drive – 235 km ( 8 – 10 hour drive).

After an early breakfast drive to Haridwar. Upon arrival at Haridwar transfer to railway station.

Chandrashila is summit of the Tungnath . It literally means "Moon Rock". It is located at a height of about 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) above sea level. This peak provides a spectacular view of Himalayas,especially Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba peaks.
